About Chofu
35,200,000 in metro
Chofu is immdeiately adjacent to Setagaya Ku, in central Tokyo Prefecture.
It is famous for the ancient Jindaiji Temple, built in AD 700, on which have just this year been completed five years of restorations, and the Chofu fireworks, held in early summer, which draws up to 300,000 people from across Tokyo, onto the shores of Tamagawa River for an evening of kimonos, festival foods, and fireworks.
Also, Chofu is home to the Tokyo Metropolitan Botanical Gardens, where Tokyo`s largest rose garden is kept, and a hothouse which keeps a wide assortment of tropical flowering plants including a large Orchid collection.
Recent redevelopment projects in the city have successfully stopped 13 years of falling land valuations.
