Carson City is the state capital of Nevada and located south of Reno near Lake Tahoe. It was part of the Ponderosa mining district of the 1860-1870s.

On an interesting note concerning high-rises, the city's downtown master plan, adopted in 1991, says that no building within 500' of the capitol may pass it in height making high-rise development in the center of downtown out of the question.
