Richfield is a fully-developed suburb bordering Minneapolis, Bloomington, Edina, and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. During the 1990s the city began implementing ambitious redevelopment plans designed to increase and replace residential and commercial structures lost in part due to expansion of the airport on the city's eastern border. As a result, the city center at 66th Street & Lyndale Avenue is becoming more dense with a small collection of high-rise buildings.
