Due to the slow economy in late 2008 through 2009, rumors that the building's height has reverted back to 22 floors have taken hold.
Originally planned as two towers, developers increased the height from 22 (294 ft) to 36 floors (455 ft) and then 44 floors (494 ft) in early 2007 and converted the adjacent tower from residential condominiums into the new office-only Legg Mason Tower.
The first 18 floors of the hotel were finished in 2011. In 2015 construction was taken up again to add the upper floors for residential condo units.
