Facts

  • Originally proposed in the early 1990's, Queen City Square went through various incarnations, including a two-tower project.
  • This building surpassed the Carew Tower to become the city's new tallest, and ended Cincinnati's long reign as the largest US city whose tallest building ever built was completed prior to World War II.
  • The tiara was inspired by Cincinnati's nickname, Queen City, and by a photograph of a tiara worn by Diana, Princess of Wales.
  • Made of steel tubes, the tiara weighs 400 tons.
  • The tiara at the top of the building is 130 feet tall and measures 159 feet from east to west and 93 feet from north to south.
  • Among other energy-saving measures, waste energy from the HVAC system is captured and reused to heat and cool the building.
  • The tower has been certified LEED Gold (Core & Shell) for its environmentally responsible measures.
  • It replaced the Queen City Square Garage.
