Two World Trade Center had the world's highest outdoor observatory platform on its roof.
A traditional elevator configuration would have required half of the lower floors' area to be occupied by shafts. To save space, Otis Elevator Company developed an express and local system whereby passengers change at "sky lobbies" at the 44th and 78th floors, cutting the number of shaftways in half.
The building was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001. An aircraft hit the building at the 85th floor at about 9:00 am; the building collapsed at 10:05 am.
On 7th August 1974, French high wire artist Philippe Petit made an illegal tightrope walk back and forth between One and Two World Trade Center towers that lasted almost an hour.
