  • The Gay Building was Madison's first skyscraper. It was the tallest building in the state outside of Milwaukee at the time it was built.
  • The novelty of the new building type to Madison caused concern in the local newspapers that additional streetcar service would be required to handle the increased concentration of people going in and out of the building.
