Facts

  • The original building was built as a 14 story, 185' structure. In 1929, the same architect was hired to double the height of the building to its current height.
  • Over half of the structure is leased to the City of Kansas City for use as city offices.
  • This building is catercorner to the northwest of the Kansas City Kansas City City Hall.
  • When SWBT sold the building in 1974, the new owners covered the original terra-cotta skin with a white plaster-like substance over a wire cage which had been attached to the structure to hold the new facing.
