Facts

  • When completed in the 1930s, the Indian Bell Building was only 7 floors in height. An addition in the late 1940s brought the height to 218 feet to the 14th floor mezzanine.
  • The Central Union Telephone Building originally stood on this site, but was moved one half-block west and rotated counter-clockwise 90 degrees in 1930 to allow construction of this building.
  • Subsequent additions in the 1960s extended the building west to Pierson Street (demolishing the Central Union Telephone Building) and added additional floors above the existing structure.
  • This building is connected at multiple floors to the AT&T 220 Building, a 1970's addition to this complex, located just to the south.
