Facts

  • Converted in 2000-2001 into a technology center for internet and telecommunication companies. The large loft spaces are useful for holding equipment that does not fit in traditional office buildings.
  • Located next to McCormick Place, the largest convention center in the United States.
  • The high-rise portion is a 14-story tower at the southeast corner.
  • The structure was planned in four phases; architect Howard Van Doren Shaw died before the fourth phase was complete, and Charles Z. Klauder was summoned to finish the work.
