Facts

  • Tallest building on the west side of Chicago.
  • Originally connected by concrete elevated walkways to other buildings on the campus. The openings for the walkways can still be seen on the 2nd floor.
  • Tapers outward in two stages, making it 20 feet wider at the top than at the bottom.
  • The tallest building designed by S.O.M. partner Walter Netsch, a major modernist architect responsible for the "Field Theory" and famous structures such as the Northwestern University Library.
