Facts

  • Last building designed by Daniel Burnham's company in his lifetime. Frederick P. Dinkelberg did the actual design.
  • Developed by the Marshall Field Estate, and originally named the Conway Building after Conway, Massachusetts - the birthplace of Marshall Field.
  • All four corners of the building are rounded, even those which face the alley.
  • The light court in the center of the building originally penetrated down to a skylight over the lobby. Later the 3rd through 7th floors were extended over the opening.
