This building was originally built as the headquaters for the Post Office Savings Bank (POSB).
The POSB was subsequently bought over by the Development Bank of Singapore (DBS) while the building was only half-completed.
The amalgamated bank already occupies two towers a few streets away (DBS Towers 1 and 2), and hence the building became the headquaters of the newly formed CapitaLand Limited, the result of a merger between Pidemco Land and DBS Land, the property arm of the bank.
Since its completion, it graces the Singapore skyline as the fourth tallest, and the tallest building in the Shenton Way-Tanjong Pagar financial district.
