  • This was the first building outside New York City to have 40 floors.
  • Tallest skyscraper ever demolished outside New York City, and the tallest wrecking job in history at the time of its demolition.
  • The demolition job required the construction of a tower crane, and reinforcement of the floor to create internal roadways for trucks removing the debris.
  • The hotel's site is now occupied by Chicago's ninth-tallest building, Chase Tower.
  • Aside from 3 buildings in the World Trade Center, the only taller building ever demolished was the Singer Building in New York (torn down in 1967).
