Facts

  • The current Wesley United Methodist Church is the third church for the Wesley congregation, the first Methodist congregation organized west of the Mississippi River.
  • The Wesley United Methodist Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
  • The tower was originally 137 feet tall, but was replaced with a shorter one after a 1949 windstorm.
  • From 1928 until 1986, the church was accompanied by the Wesley Temple Building, a community center organized by the church. It was located directly east of the current church, on a site now part of the Minneapolis Convention Center.
