• On the interior, the three-story public banking room is designed with Imperial Roman grandeur. The lobby features a mural by Hiram Thompson illustrating the negotiation of the Black Hawk Purchase Treaty .
• Although a Neo-Classical design with Greek and Roman themes, the simple handling of the limestone sheathing - treated as a thin skin with an abstract, gridded pattern - suggests an influence of modernist, functional thinking.
• Rustication is carried from the street level to the third floor with pilastered walls and arched openings.
• The Davenport Bank and Trust Building consists of a twelve-story base topped by a five-story clock tower.
