Facts

• The antennae mounted on top of this skyscraper serves the two Belgian (Flemish and Walloon) national television stations, and used only for digital broadcast.
• In the original design the external concrete elevator core would have had a marble façade. However those plans were dropped because of the high cost involved.
• The Belgian Ministry of Finance sold and leased back the building to the Dutch Breevast Holding Company for 27 years in 2002 for €200 million (US$262 million as of December 2004).
• Two years in the making, a final agreement to renovate was signed in November 2004 with work starting January 1, 2005. The facade will be replaced by a light blue and white curtain wall. External lifts will be moved inside the building. The space lost by this move will be compensated for by a new 11-storey building.
• The first part of the renovation involves stripping the building to its concrete structure whereafter all asbestos will be removed.
• The building from before the reconstruction had a helipad on its roof.
• The building has more office space than any other in Belgium.
• The renovated building will provide office space for around 4,600 workers which represents an increase of around 1,400 spaces compared to the building prior to renovation.
• This antenna is an addition to the antennae of VRT Toren.
