- The church is famous in Chicago for its stained glass windows by the Tiffany studio.
- In 1900-1901 the church was redecorated in the Arts & Crafts and Pre-Raphaelite styles by Howard Van Doren Shaw after it was damaged by a fire.
- A large mural of the Tree of Life by Frederic Clay Bartlett fills the gothic arch above the altar at the west end.
- The church was dedicated in 1874 and its gothic style, complete with trefoils and gargoyles recalls English churches of the 15th century.
