  • Vancouver's main Post Office from 1910-1958.
  • During its early years the Post Office's landmark clock tower chimed each hour and half hour.
  • Described as Edwardian Baroque style combining English and French architectural influences.
  • Minute hand on clock weighs 92 kgs./202 lbs.
  • It used to take three days for the controlling weights of the clock to completely travel the tower's 69 foot shaft.
  • The historic Atrium clock was built in 1909 by John Smith & Sons, Derby, England and is the largest clock movement in western Canada. The four, 12-foot diameter clocks were restored in 1986.
  • Considered one of the finest examples of neo-Baroque style in Canada.
