  • Tallest building in North Carolina from 1988 - 1992, surpassing Charlotte's Bank of America Plaza.
  • Surpassed by Bank of America Corporate Center as both the tallest in Charlotte and North Carolina.
  • Celebrated its official opening with much fanfare on Wednesday, September 14, 1988.
  • 100 windows were damaged or destroyed on this tower as a result of Hurricane Hugo on September 22, 1989.
  • Originally announced as Two Wachovia Center, this is regarded as Charlotte’s first postmodern high-rise.
  • Just over 142,000 cubic yards of dirt and rock were displaced and removed from the site during its excavation in 1985.
