  • On Feb. 23rd, 1991 a fire broke out on the 22nd floor. It severely damaged eight floors, and three firefighters lost their lives. Demolition was begun in 1998 and completed in 1999.
  • This is the sixth-tallest building ever to be demolished, and the tallest outside of New York City and Chicago.
  • A major visionary project, the Center City Tower, surfaced for this strategic site across from City Hall. It would have been Philadelphia's tallest building.
  • Construction on the Residences at the Ritz-Carlton began in late 2006, utilizing the existing foundation for this building.
