Facts

  • A now automated, 49-bell carillon operates at the top of the limestone tower. Upon its completion the tower contained bronze bells.
  • This carillon tower was nearly entirely financed by donations and contributions raised with Nancy Brown's advice column with no cost to the City of Detroit.
  • This carillon is named after Nancy Brown, one of the first advice columnists in the United States. She was a columnists and journalists for the Detroit News from 1919 until her retirement in 1942.
