Facts

  • The Missouri State Capitol was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

  • It sits in a landscaped park overlooking the Missouri River bluffs. The bronze statue of Ceres atop the lantern is 400 feet above the river. Many other sculptures and friezes ornament the building and grounds.
  • The interior features a 68-foot tall rotunda finished mostly in marble and decorated with murals illustrating human progress.
