• The building as a whole is indicative of Davenport's aspirations in the 1920's to create an urbane and sophisticated downtown.
• The steel-framed building is clad in white terra-cotta, designed in a light Neo-Classical style with references to the Gothic or the Hispanic Plateresque.
• The Kahl Building/Capitol Theater combines a 2,400-seat theater, designed by Rapp & Rapp, with a basement-level restaurant and office block above.
• Donated to Scott Community College in December 1994 and later opened in fall of 1996 as the Kahl Educational Center to thousands of students to study.
