Facts
- Designed by Chicago architects Burnham and Root, this building is considered to be Atlanta's first skyscraper.
- The Equitable Building remained Atlanta's tallest high-rise (not including the State Capitol) until 1897, when it was surpassed by the Flatiron Building.
- This building once stood where the Trust Company of Georgia Building plaza is today. At the time of demolition, a "modernism" movement was sweeping Atlanta and it was deemed anachronistic, blocking the view of the ultramodern Trust Company building behind it.
