- The Empress State Building was renovated to a design by Wilkinson Eyre Architects, completing in July 2003. The renovation added 3 storeys to the top of the building, increasing the structural height from 100m (328ft) to 117.3m (385ft).
- The cost of refurbishment was in the region of £80 million.
- The top of the building boasts Orbit - a revolving 30th floor with spectacular views over London.
- Empress State Building was an RIBA award winner 2004.
- The project architect was AA van Nuffelen.
- At the time of original completion, this was the last major office building in London to be built without air-conditioning.
