- This hotel was designed in such a way that every hotel room has a view of the Detroit River.
- This hotel is built on the site of Fort Pontchartrain, Detroit's first permanent European settlement, built in 1701. It was later known as Fort Detroit.
- The top floor of the tower consists of a 6,500 square foot ballroom named the Top of the Pontch.
- A $35 million renovation for the hotel was completed from the summer of 2006 to the fall of 2007, and included upgrades to all hotel amenities, mechanical systems, and the addition of a health and fitness complex that included a new indoor pool.
