The Denny Chimes, a slender tower in the campus quadrangle, has been a symbol of the university since its dedication in 1929.
It was named in honor of past University of Alabama President George H. Denny.
Since 1948, the captains of Alabama's football team have placed both their hand and footprints in concrete slabs surrounding the base.
