- The brick and limestone-faced building ranges in height from 13 stories at the Market Street end to 15 stories on King Street, and contains a cornice typical of the modified Renaissance architecture.
- The Ninth Street section was erected in 1921, with additions completed in 1930. The building once housed offices of the Hercules Powder Companies and the main office of the Delaware Trust Company developed by Alfred I. Du Pont.
- The Hercules Tower was built in the light well of this building.
