Facts

  • The Cathedral of St. Mary was modeled after a fifth-century basilica in Ravenna, Italy. The original Holy Angels Church burned in 1922, the same year construction began on this replacement structure.
  • This is the mother church for the St. Cloud Roman Catholic Diocese, which covers 16 counties in Central Minnesota. The important church buildings of the Benedictine communities at Collegeville and St. Joseph are just a few miles to the west.
