Facts
- Built as the New York headquarters of the Coca-Cola Company and named after its founder Asa Candler.
- Above the decorative 4th-floor spandrels, the shaft rises in three uninterrupted bays of windows, ending in arches that echo the base.
- The Candler sets an important precedent, because it was one of the most successful solutions to the problem of building on a midblock site.
- The first couple of floors are occupied by the world's largest McDonald's.
