Facts

  • The 14-story likeness of Barry Sanders, the former Detroit Lions' star, was retired after a six year deal (1994-2000) with Nike expired. Still, locals call it the Barry Sanders Building.
  • This was the first building outside New York and Chicago to have 40 floors.
  • The Cadillac Tower's decorative cornices and parapets have varying heights. The corner spires rise to a height of 427 feet, and the spires at the middle facade rises to the same height of the mechanical penthouse at a height of 437 feet.
  • The building is rather unusual for a skyscraper in that it has a guyed mast on its roof.
