- The southeast corner of Georgia and Granville was where people said for over a half century, "Meet me at the Birks clock".
- The last wall was taken down during demolition on January 27, 1975.
- The famous wooden-movement Birks clock, built in 1905, is today located at the corner of Granville & Hastings since 1994.
- A new Birks store opened on the same corner in 1977 in Vancouver Centre and remained there until 1994, before becoming a London Drugs store.
