Facts
- The structure of the Banco de Bilbao is comprised of two reinforced concrete cores with large cantilered slabs every five floors on which intermediate floors are steel framed.
- An underground line passes under the building.
- The top sign has changed many times because of bank mergers.
- There are two mechanical floors, and the top of the building is designed to hide all of the technical installations on the roof.
- The building has 5 floors totally free from columns. These floors also have a taller floor-to-ceiling height.
- The facade footbridges were built to protect the inside space from direct sunlight in summer and to clean the windows. Another building using the same system is Torre Mapfre. This solution negates the need to install facade maintenance cabins.
