• The tower is so-called because the plot which it occupies was given by Kazakhstan's president Nursultan Nazarbayev to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed, president of the United Arab Emirates.
• The project is inspired by a sister development in Abu Dhabi known as the Central Market Redevelopment.
• The building has been designed with the local climate in mind: solar gain is maximised in winter when temperatures can drop to -40 degrees; heat is harnessed by a heavily insulated north façade.
