- Originally started as a development of Cadillac-Fairview, the building was acquired by Jaymont Properties as it was completed.
- The exterior of the 173.5 meter tall building is patterned with of polished red Balmoral granite panels from Finland alternating with window openings in a diagonal pattern, covering the concrete panels which form the structural truss tube.
- The plaza on Third Avenue is paved in red brick and granite with a row of trees flanking the roadway.
- The building incorporates, among other business-related facilities, a 154-seat auditorium as part of the largest office building conference center in Midtown Manhattan.
- The concrete structural frame utilizes an off-center core (on the western side) in addition to the large-scale concrete X-bracing to allow column-free interiors at every level.
- The structure won the Concrete Industry Board Annual Award in 1983.
- Similar in design and height to Onterie Center in Chicago, completed in the same year.
