About
San Miguel de Tucumán
Tucumán holds an important place in Argentina’s history since the country’s independence from Spain was proclaimed here on July 9, 1816.
Over the past decades, the city has lost most of its former architectural identity as most of its old buildings and houses in the downtown area were demolished and replaced by new, in many cases tasteless, apartment and office blocks. This same transformation has given San Miguel de Tucumán one of the densest skylines in the country.
