About
Rochester

Rochester was founded in 1854 along a bend in the Zumbro River, and named after the founder's hometown of
Rochester, New York. Located approximately 75 miles southeast of
Minneapolis-
St. Paul, the seat of Olmsted County has grown into the third-largest city in Minnesota. Rochester is famous as home of the
Mayo Clinic, one of the largest and most prestigious medical centers in the world. The hospital here is consistently rated the second best in the United States. The high-rises at the Mayo Clinic and the neighboring residential and hotel towers lend Rochester an impressive skyline for a city of fewer than 100,000.
