Luxor
Located 675 kilometers south of Cairo on both banks of the river nile, the village flourished into a bustling town after Howard Carter's discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun in the ancient city of palaces of Luxor, known as Thebes in the days of the pharoes, which is located nearby the modern town.
Today Luxor is governed by special statues that allows it more autonomy then other political areas of Egypt. On the east bank, you would find the Temple of Luxor and the Temple of Amun-Re at Karnak. The famous Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens are located are the west bank
