About Herlev

Herlev is a small municipality northwest of Copenhagen. With its population of 27,000 Herlev is third smallest municipality in Denmark but it ranks among the 50 most populated municipalities in the country. The history of Herlev as a town dates back only about a hundred years and the large growth happend between the 1920s and the 1970s.
The biggest employer in Herlev - and the towns popular landmark - is the 25 year old County Hospital ( Herlev Hospital) which also happens to be the tallest skyscraper in Denmark. There is a rather large industrial area in the south part of the municipality. Today, however, many electronics and telecommunications companies have turned the once unattractive quarter into a Danish "Silicon Valley". The town center features a quaint pedestrian street as well as a modern shopping mall with a variety of shops.
