About Seoul
The city's skyscrapers are divided into many clusters, spread amongst the main business and residential districts. The traditional CBD, known as Chongro-gu, contains many mid-rise office towers and embassies. Youido, a small island in the Han River, contains many mid-rise headquarters for financial institutions, as well as the building that has been the city's tallest for 20 years: the DLI 63 Building. Most of the recent growth in Seoul's skyline, however, has been focussed in the Kangnam area, where residential towers of 60 storeys and above are shooting up like blades of grass. Along with Hong Kong, Seoul enters 2002 as one of the global leaders in high-rise living, boasting many of the world's tallest all-residential skyscrapers, including the massive 7-tower Tower Palace complex. Construction of these mammoth structures has reached breakneck pace, and looks set to increase in the coming years. Metro Cities
