About Ra'ananna
The city was founded in 1922, and the initial name chosen by the U.S pioneers of the Ahuza foundation who purchased the land, was Ra'anania. The city's main street is Ahuza street, along which the city grew. The first pioneers were english speaking from New York, which set Ra'anana's favoured status among anglo-saxon immigrants, especially South African, so much so that the city is sometimes nicknamed the Protea city. Built mainly of lowrise residential buildings, the relatively new Business Zone at the northern part of the city and the residential neighborhood just south of it are the only parts of the city with highrise buildings.
