Tianjin Located on Bohai Bay along the West coast of the Pacific Ocean, the city of Tianjin is the third biggest city in China, behind Beijing and Shanghai. It is the commercial centre and largest coastal open city in Northern China. Among the world's largest cities, Tianjin ranks 15. It covers 11,305 sq. km and consists of 15 districts and 3 counties.

Tianjin is one of the ten famous cities renowned for its history and culture in China. It has been highly praised by the famous Italian traveler, Marco Polo, as the "paradise city" in the 13th century. Ever since it got its name "Tianjin-a Ferry where the Emperor crossed the river" from the Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty, it was building itself into a prosperous industrial and commercial town at the beginning of the 15th century.
