Facts
The building is often confused with Wachovia Center because of its similar facade and coloration.
The building was originally built as Two Mack Center, building two after One Mack-Cali Center.
Upon completion there were no reserved tenants for the building as the market for office space in downtown Tampa was saturated.
Hillsborough County purchased the building in August 1992 for US $30 million.
In 2000 the building was renamed Fred Karl County Center after a former Hillsborough County commissioner.
The building's facade is painted salmon-mauve.
The building's windows have a copper sheeting that for each window costs US $1,200 to replace.
The building was re-roofed in 2001 for US $740,000.
The building's lobby features a large dichroic glass sculpture designed by Kenneth vonRoenn, Jr.
The building houses over 30 Hillsborough County departments.
The building's design, especially the curving facade, was infleunced by Chicago's 333 Wacker Drive.
The Stovall Professional Building stood on the southwest corner of the building's site.
