The hotel is named for two historic Texas figures: Isaac Van Zandt, the first ambassador to the United States for the Republic of Texas, and Townes Van Zandt who was his great-great-great-grandson, a famous folk singer-song writer. |
The building was originally proposed as a 304-foot building with 26 floors, but the developer added 36 hotel rooms and 5 to 15 additional condominiums. Current plans call for a 29-story tower. Plans now call for eliminating the 55 condos and reducing its height to 16 floors. |
