Facts
The reinforced concrete structure is cantilevered from a central core, with a concrete and copper façade and gold-tinted glass windows set in aluminum frames.
The design is based on a diamond module of 30° and 60° triangles, which is used as a pattern throughout the building and can even be seen scored on the floor.
Interior wall supports divide the tower into four separate quadrants. The southwest quadrant consists of eight two-story offices, and the other three are devoted to apartments.
20-inch wide copper louvers shade the windows. These are positioned vertically in the SW quadrant, and horizontally in the other three.
Price Tower is one of only two completed skyscrapers designed entirely by Frank Lloyd Wright, along with the S.C. Johnson Research Tower in Racine, Wisconsin.
In 1983 this building became the 14th recipient of the American Institute of Architects' prestigious Twenty-Five Year Award.
