Facts
The steeple was built by Philip Mixsell. Designed in the Federal style, it consists of a tall square belfry tower surmounted by a slender steeple. It remains the tallest structure in downtown Easton.
Thomas U. Walter was architect of an extensive 1832 remodeling which included the steeple, brick portions on the north end, frescos, and stained glass windows.
The nave of the First Reformed Church was built in 1775-76. It served as a hospital during the Revolutionary War. In 1777 it was also the site of a series of peace treaty negotiations with Native Americans.
