Genesee Towers is characterized by strong vertical lines. This effect is created by light-colored piers alternating with bands of darkly-tinted window- and spandrel-glass.

This has been the tallest building in the Flint since its completion.

The building consists of a 10-floor office section that overhangs a lobby level atop an 8-floor parking garage.

The builing was largely vacated in 1997, when the National Bank of Detroit moved out, and was bought by Kumar Vemulapalli in that year. A dilapidated pipe in the building flooded the structure in 2001, and the building was totally vacated in 2002.

In 2004, the city condemned the structure, altogether, and by November of 2007 the streets surrounding the tower were closed due to the risk of concrete falling from the dilapidated tower.
