This building's architect, Henry Bacon, also designed the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.
An unbuilt addition, known as the Point Building, was designed by Walker & Weeks in 1946-47 to expand the department store up to the point at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Huron Road. Instead this point is now occupied by Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
