Facts
In 2000, the city government planned to redevelop the building into a boutique hotel like the Reliance Building. The plan was canceled because of severe deterioration on the terra cotta exterior.
The building once held the world's tallest restaurant sign: an electric light spelling "Romas Restaurant" on the corner of State and Adams. The sign was changed to "Adams Restaurant" in 1975.
